Catching Up with Paul Taylor
Since retiring from Surrey SD, Paul like so many other members is certainly not one to sit still. He tells us he recently finished accompanying the Coquitlam Chorale with an all-Disney program that was very well received.
In May, the South Van Big Band played at the Peace Arch Park Pavilion along with two other bands starting around noon. He also displayed his musical talents in another big band called The Vancouver Groove Orchestra (VGO) at a fundraising event at the Port Coquitlam Legion.
The BCRPVPA newsletter unfortunately came out too late to promote these events, not too late to promote “The South Van Big Band”, a modern jazz orchestra that is playing at the Kitsilano Showboat on July 1st at 7:00 pm. Also you can catch them at Concerts in the Plaza on Wednesday, June 4th in Richmond 6:00-9:00 pm
Ordinarily, Paul would be playing guitar with this band but this year, he is once again on tour in Ontario with the “Lee Holmes Blues Trio” at that time. The South Van Big Band is still very much worth catching, as they often have two singers and 20 instrumentalists putting on quite a show.
