Special Bulletin April 2022

Dear members, as we approach our last meeting of the year, our May AGM, we are planning the Election of Officers and Executive Members for 2022/2023.

The members of the executive would like to extend a personal invitation to each of our members to consider attending the AGM, which will be in a hybrid format (via Zoom and ‘in person’). The business meeting will start at 9:45 am, followed, at 11:00 am, by the speakers’ program!

Here is how the hybrid model of our AGM works. The Zoom link will be sent out to all members along with the May AGM Agenda + Reports package, one week prior to the meeting. The ‘in person’ meeting will be held in the BCPVPA Office (Address: 525 10th Avenue Bikeway, Vancouver, B.C.).

BCRPVPA Speakers’ Series: the next presentation will be May 11, 2022

Hearing 101: Love your Ears
submitted by Eileen Phillips
Please join us at 11:00 a.m. on May 11 for the final session of this year. The presentation will be given by a team from HearingLife. They will be Zooming in from Toronto.

This will be an interactive session and is titled Hearing 101: all you need to know. You will leave the session knowing how to “love your ears” and all the things that hearing makes possible. You might even win a prize since there will be prizes awarded for questions answered. Doesn’t this sound informative and fun? Please join us for the AGM on May 11 and stay for this presentation at 11:00.

Thank you to the members who join us for our Speakers’ Series. Most of our speakers donate their time and expertise to us and they appreciate having a live audience for their presentation.

Election of officers and executive members

All positions on the executive are now open for 2022/2023 year except for Past President. Here is a comprehensive list of positions open. Please consider putting your name forward to serve on the executive:

  • President
  • Vice-President
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • 5 to 9 Members-at-Large who will serve on either/both the Communications Committee (Newsletter, Mailouts, Yammer, Website, Technology, Surveys) and/or the Member Services Committee (Memberships, Sunshine, Affinity Benefits, Pension, Scholarships, Speakers)

Members are welcome to consult our Constitution and Bylaws from the BCRPVPA website www.bcrpvpa.ca for a comprehensive list and description of the executive positions and nomination protocol, under Article 9 (Officers and Executive Members), Article 10 (Duties of the Executive Committee), and Article 12 (Nominations).

Interested members are to send their intention of running via an email to our Past President, Ted St. Pierre, at info@bcrpvpa.ca. In the email, please include the following: member’s name, email address, and the role they are applying for, along with the request to place his/her name on the election slate. This email request must be received on or before May 1st, 2022. This would allow time to incorporate the executive slate into the May 11th AGM package that will be sent out to all members a week prior to the AGM date.

Also, a quick reminder to our members that nominations will be taken from the floor and that members can nominate themselves. If members have further questions regarding the executive election process and/or nominations protocol, please feel free to contact our Past President, Ted St. Pierre,
at info@bcrpvpa.ca.
