
Alexandra Chow from Vancouver plans to study environmental science while doing advocacy work, which she hopes will help her bridge these often-separated aspects of climate action. She hopes that studying science at the university-level will help her understand how industry-standard practices play a role in climate change and help her achieve her goal of partnering with companies as a consultant to develop more efficient, environmentally friendly practices, shrinking their carbon footprint while spreading awareness about sustainable practices.

Makayla Graham who hails from Victoria exhibits a genuine passion for learning, always seeking out opportunities to expand her knowledge and skills in various fields, including music, dance, athletics, and environmental science. Makayla has excelled in the secondary school environment maintaining honour role status throughout her secondary school years. She has demonstrated academic excellence, leadership and school community engagement. Makayla’s post-secondary goal is to pursue either a Bachelor of Science or Engineering with the plan to have a career that blends her passion for environmental issues and problem solving.
Lucas Fong is a well-rounded Burnaby student excelling both as a swimmer and a student while still making room to play a big role in supporting his community.
Lucas’s ability to balance a high level of athletics, with academic excellence as he maintains Honor Roll with Distinction through his high school years, and his diverse leadership roles including the Co-president of his school’s Student Council is testimony of his grit and dedication to his pursuit of excellence as a well-rounded student-athlete.
Lucas is aspiring to a post secondary degree in Biomedical Engineering. In his own words,” Watching my grandmother suffer from the effects of Parkinson’s disease has also driven my interest in Biomedical Engineering, where I hope to be able to work towards research and developments that will improve the quality of life of patients who suffer from degenerative diseases through advancement in engineering technology.”
Where do those Funds for Scholarships and Bursaries Come From?
More than 86% of your membership fees, an annual donation of $2500 from HearingLife and for every member who gets a free hearing test or purchases some equipment we also receive donation. Johnson Insurance (all products soon to be called belairdirect) also contributes annually based on number of BCRPVPA members who sign up for services and they pay for ads in newsletters.
